The USA Signal Alternating STOP/ALTO Signals offers several unique operating features that make it a cost-effective solution to standard filament bulb based products and all competitors LED based products. The signal will alternate “flashing” from the English word “Stop” to the Spanish word “Alto” during it's active “ON” operation. The signal's LEDs are configured into independent strings so if a LED fails the sign light output will not be compromised. The signal has two separate power supplies with surge-transient protection at 10KV @ 10K Amps which exceeds the ITE specification. The redundant power supply architecture functions so if one supply fails the signal will still be functioning in a manner that it's readable by the motorist. If a failure occurs and any of the communication options are installed the signal will send the information to the DOT central office for appropriate action. The LEDs and control electronics are contained in a separate water tight and dust free enclosure that is “convection” cooled which helps to extend the operating life of the signal so that it has an industry high 6 year warranty.
FEATURES & BENEFITS :
LED based product, which offers considerable energy power savings over standard incandescent bulb products.
The electronics are housed in an enclosure that is convection cooled, which keeps the electronics operating below specification requirements of 74 deg. Celsius.
Dimming Control for Night Operation per ITE specification.
Separate convection cooled watertight electronic cabinet to house all electronics.
Electronics cabinet can be easily replaced without removing complete sign enclosure from intersection pole.
Meets ITE VTSCH-STD Part 2 Specification for Chromaticity
Operating Temperature Range: - 40 to + 74 deg. Celsius
Operating Voltage: AC Voltage: 80 to 135 V @ 60Hz AC; DC Voltage: 35 to 60 VDC
Meets or Exceeds ITE VTSCH-STD Part 2 Specification for Luminous Intensity
Meets NEMA STD 250 Type 4 - 1991 Specification for Moisture Resistance
Meets Mil-STD-883 Method 2007 Specification for Mechanical Vibration
Meets FCC title 47 Sub. B Sec 15 Specification for Electronic Noise
Exceeds ITE VTSCH-STD Part 2 Specification for Transient Voltage Protection
Meets NEMA TS-2-1992 Specification for Controller Compatibility
OPTIONAL FEATURES:
Self-Kill: Meets the ITE VTSCH-STD Part 2 Specification for "Failed State Impedance" Option
Night Dimming for Red & Green Signals: Meets ITE VTSCH-STD Part 2 Specification for Dimming Option
Communications:
RS 232/485 back to the controller
900Mhz radio to the ITIS S.A.P.S. unit (see ITIS Section for information on S.A.P.S.)
900 Mhz radio communications to a radio receiver installed in the intersection controller
These communication options allow for each signal with this option installed to communicate it's ongoing operational status to a central office database. This can be done through the USA Signal ITIS system S.A.P.S. unit or through the intersection controller if it has the I/O capability. When included in a USA Signal ITIS the software is provided as part of the system that lest the DOT management see action day to day status of all signals installed. With this system such key items as scheduling maintenance for signals that have degraded past the ITE light output specification can be done in a "real-time" mode.
