The Lane Control Unit, LCU, was originally designed for the Texas Department of Transportation in Austin and has several advanced features that allows for a lower cost of installation and on-going maintenance cost when compared to the fiber optic halogen signals supplied by competitors for this application. The USA Signal product has a 900 Mhz wireless communications interface which reduces the need for a controller and AC and line switches normally deployed in this type of installation. With the redundant power supply architecture the reliability of this USA Signal product allows for an industry long 6 year warranty to be offered and also increases safety where the product is installed.
